HIWW supports innovation-driven projects connecting digital fabrication, sustainability, and community engagement. In LAUDS, HIWW contributes to the preparation of the Open Call documentation and leads outreach and public engagement through an international crowd voting and community activities.

HIWW is a Hamburg-based organization specialized in managing and implementing innovation projects at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and community development. With extensive experience in coordinating EU- and nationally funded initiatives, HIWW bridges academia, industry, and civil society to accelerate digital transformation and promote local production ecosystems. The team has a strong background in open-source hardware, circular economy, and makerspace-based innovation. Within the LAUDS project, HIWW contributes its expertise in outreach, crowdsourcing, and community engagement to ensure effective collaboration between partners and broad dissemination of project outcomes.

Our role in the project

Within the LAUDS project, HIWW supported the Open Call process by designing and implementing a public community voting campaign to identify and prioritise topics for the upcoming Open Calls. The online voting invited diverse audiences—such as makers, start-ups, and innovation communities across Europe—to contribute their perspectives on key challenges and opportunities related to local production. The results of this participatory process were analysed and integrated into the formulation of the Open Call framework, ensuring that the selected themes reflected real community needs and interests. Through this approach, HIWW helped to make the Open Call process more inclusive, transparent, and responsive to societal and technological trends within the LAUDS ecosystem.
