TMDC (Taller para la Materialización y Desarrollo de Conceptos) is a pioneering industrial coworking space located in Barcelona, encompassing 7,000 m² of facilities designed to empower local manufacturing and foster collaboration among artisans, designers, and small businesses. Our mission is to create a vibrant ecosystem that champions sustainability, innovation, and the dignification of work in the manufacturing sector. With access to advanced machinery, training programs, and a supportive community, TMDC facilitates the growth of creative projects and promotes economic resilience within the city.
In line with the objectives of the LAUDS project, we are committed to contributing to the establishment of local urban factories that emphasize open and sustainable production practices. By collaborating with a network of partners, we aim to drive innovative solutions that address the unique challenges of urban manufacturing in Europe. Our facility not only serves as a space for fabrication but also as a hub for knowledge exchange and community engagement, fostering a holistic approach to sustainable development.
Our role in the project
As a key partner in the LAUDS project, TMDC 4.0 brings valuable expertise in local manufacturing and community collaboration. Our role involves facilitating the establishment of urban factories that align with LAUDS’s vision of open and sustainable production. We will contribute by hosting workshops, events, and exhibitions that showcase innovative solutions and best practices in sustainable manufacturing.
Our facility provides a collaborative environment where participants can prototype and test their ideas, leveraging our state-of-the-art equipment and resources. Additionally, we will engage local stakeholders, fostering connections between manufacturers, designers, and the community to promote shared learning and knowledge transfer. Through our initiatives, we aim to empower local actors to actively participate in the new paradigm of urban manufacturing, ensuring that our efforts are replicable and scalable across different neighborhoods in Barcelona and beyond.
Our expertise
TMDC is an industrial coworking space focused on facilitating effective production for freelancers and small to medium-sized enterprises. With over six years of experience in open fabrication environments, we are committed to fostering a sustainable future by being closer to urban consumption points, sharing resources among users, and providing scale benefits to small fabricators while prioritizing gender equality and equitable access.
Our comprehensive infrastructure includes a fully equipped shared workshop with woodworking, metalworking, and plastics areas, along with advanced CNC machines such as laser cutters, milling machines, and 3D printers. We offer private workshop spaces for individual projects and experimentation.
Additionally, we provide professional training and technical advice to our community of over 160 members from diverse backgrounds, fostering collaboration and innovation. Our projects, such as the Casal d’Estiu program, emphasize sustainability through hands-on workshops, while the RMDC Residency Program supports participants in bringing new product ideas to market.
